A La Mode was created by Peter and Josephine Turner in 1986. The original shop was located in Hans Crescent, by Harrods and in 2001 they decided to relocate to larger premises by Sloane Square, adjacent to Peter Jones and at the heart of Knightsbridge, Belgravia and Chelsea.

A La Mode quickly established a reputation for selling the most beautiful clothes from the world’s top International designers. The Turners greatest talent is to select and edit these collections, and this has earned them the respect of their contemporaries, international fashion press and customers. They have revolutionised the market in the way they display the clothes, and are often referred to as an art gallery meets fashion shop experience. They have been responsible for launching the careers of many famous designers including, amongst others, Marc Jacobs, Prada Ready to Wear and Marni.

Today A La Mode stocks not only established designers but continues to source emerging talent. Picking up on the current vibe for British designers, they are stocking Kinder Aggugini, Peter Pilotto, and Erdem. These brilliant new talents mix harmoniously with the more established names, like Oscar de la Renta, Balmain and Chloe amongst so many others, who continue to be hugely popular with A La Mode’s customers.

The Turners are passionate about their shop and display a complete knowledge and understanding of the collections they stock. Comments often heard include “every piece is absolutely beautiful” or “I have never seen a shop like this anywhere in the world.”
